NSW Drivers Licence and Driving Information (New South Wales, Australia)

Everything you need to know about getting, renewing and replacing a NSW drivers licence is listed here. Your licence is a ‘contract’, or an agreement between you as a driver and the rest of society. Roads and Maritime Services and the NSW Police adminster this contract on behalf of the people of NSW.

Statistics prove that drivers aged 17-25 years are more likely to be involved in vehicle crashes causing death and injury, so the NSW licensing system has been designed to produce safe and efficient drivers and riders.

NSW has a graduated licensing scheme for car drivers that allows novice drivers to safely build experience on the road and improve their driving skills as they move from a learners license to a full license. Drivers can start with learner license as early as 16 years of age and will take a minimum of 4 years to move to full license.
